Need to update
1. Wes now says ‘Wes’, I think Wesley will take some work since he’s rarely called by his full name.
2. He counts 1-10
3. He can identify the whole alphabet pretty consistently.
4. Saying more 3-word phrases, today he told me ‘One more quiet’ this morning (I was reading the Quiet-Loud book and he wanted me to read it again).
5. Catching on to ‘please’ and ‘thank you’. He told Steve ‘Thank you, dada!’ the other night- adorable!
6. Not big into hugs, but loves hi-5s!
In other news, he was having to potty issues this week so we ended up at the pediatrician Wednesday, followed by seeing a pediatric urologist at CMS on Thursday. Wes did really well and was quite agreeable which made the outings pleasant. He had a cold late last weekend + the start of the week so we’ve been off track (no story time or playdates) this week so I expected him to fuss a lot, so he surprised me!
Ped’s office::
CMS:
Waiting room, he also met a 2yo who he sort of played with:
In the exam room, he enjoyed watching cars on the highway:
He weighed in at 32lbs 7oz at CMS while dressed, so he’s hovering around 32lbs. I’m pretty surprised he’s gained weight because he hasn’t been a big eater lately. The nurses and doctor were all shocked at him being fully potty-trained and called him a ‘champ’. He also was repeatedly called adorable and handsome (which is common to hear, I think that’s why his noggin is so big. :-p), he got Olivia and Percy the Train stickers which made him very happy. I’m hoping we’re done with doctors until his 2 year appointment!!
Amazon
I learned how to add stuff from any website to an Amazon wishlist- needless to say, Wes’s wishlist has been updated.
Dear Wes-
Please stop growing and being so messy. I know you do both very well, but your clothing ‘need’ list keeps growing!
Love,
Mom
I’ve spent the week feeling like I was forgetting to do something- still haven’t figured out if I have.
Wes has had a great week, I need to post pics and write a little something, this is my reminder to myself.
Fall is here (high of 65 today) so we broke out jeans and sweatshirts. Every time I think his wardrobe is complete, I find something we’re missing. I thought he had a long-sleeved white t-shirt in 3T (based on where it was in his closet)- nope it was a 24m…a bit snug. :-p
Since Steve is playing Madden 12…
I guess I’ll write an update!
September 1-
Wes had his first dentist appointment! He did amazingly well and was very excited to not only get a new toothbrush, but Thomas the Tank Engine sunglasses (to match his shirt).
Run down of Labor Day weekend-
-Went to KCI airport to plane watch
-Stopped at Nebraska Furniture Mart and bought new deck furniture. Our current stuff was part of our hail damage claim in April.
-We walked around the OP Arboretum…great day!
This week has been more great weather so we’ve gone to a couple parks and had a playgroup meet-up at Deanna Rose. We also went to the library 3x because he loves it!
Wednesday was our Parents-as-Teachers in-home meeting and she was super impressed by Wes being fully potty-trained (as are we). She also got to witness his coloring skills, hear a few new words, and see him try to unlock/open our storm door.
Today was our 2nd music class and it went much better! We start with a small craft, sing songs/she reads a couple books, do a couple ASL signs, and we get to play with instruments. He really liked the egg shakers and sticks. The letter of the week was ‘U’ and we worked on a few signs for colors.
New words: awesome (ahhh-sum), stick, tasty, coffee (cah-fay, very distinct syllables when he says it), up, ‘clean up’

Need to update
Things I need to write about:
1. Labor Day weekend
2. Random playdates/outings
3. Our Parents-as-Teachers in-home meeting
4. The search for a Halloween costume (Maybe ‘Woody’ from Toy Story- never seen the movie, but had a sticker with him on it.)
5. The realization that Wesley is lacking fall/winter pants. Haha.
In other news, tomorrow is our (as in mine and Steve’s) 4 year wedding anniversary! Our big plans are Papa John’s pizza and breadsticks (we never order pizza, always frozen- so this is a biggy- haha) and me forcing him to watch Big Brother! We’re also getting ourselves personalized Cleveland Browns jerseys as our gift to each other. 🙂
