I’m currently having a panic attack, and feeling like a terrible mother, because I have not enrolled Wes in a KDO/preschool program for the fall. It seems like I am the only one not putting her 2.5 year old (in the fall) into a program.
So today, since Wes decided to nap, I’ve been looking at programs online. I’m not sure why I’m freaking out- we do plenty of play dates for social time, we do artsy stuff, we go to the library pretty frequently, and for goodness sakes- I’M A LICENSED TEACHER!!!! But still, I’m literally having a panic attack over this. I’m so scared he’s going to fall behind.
Since Daddy is at a work dinner, momma got to take over bath/books/bed duty.
Silly face when he got bubbles in his mouth-
He told me this is a ‘storm cloud’-
I told him to pick out 3 books-
Wes got his 5th bloody nose today- he fell on the deck.
In other news, he’s barely napped all week. The past 3 days he’s taken 30 minute naps around 2pm and gone to bed at 7. Still getting up between 5-5:30am. Sigh, one day- he’ll want to sleep (like as a teenager) and I’ll be waking him up with a smile on my face!!
Today we headed downtown to Crown Center for an interactive exhibit with some friends. It was 5 moms, 5 2-year-olds, and 3 infants! The exhibit was way too overwhelming for Wes (noise, people, new things) but there were no tears, so it was a success!
After 40 minutes we sat down for a snack, then decided to go to Fritz’s, a train restaurant. We ate then took the ‘The Link’ (a sky walkway) over to Union Station to see the train exhibit and play.
*there are a lot more photos on Facebook, just didn’t want to really post pics of the other kids on here without asking their parents first.*
Birthday Girl- Quinn is 4!
Wes around 1pm, after a busy Valentine’s Day party (almost 40 people in our house) and no nap. Such a cute, but dirty face!:
Story behind this one- Well, he was going to the potty while I changed my clothes and he says, “I hide my poop!”. Of course I freak out thinking he’s playing in the potty. Nope, he was actually hiding while he went to the potty. *Sigh of relief!*
Wes and Quinn this morning:
6 weeks of a runny nose- I’m over it!:
1. We had tumbling. Wee enjoys it, but he does get bored if we do a rotation of activities more than twice. The 3rd time he will do it halfway and then say he doesn’t like it. He just wanted to play in a big foam octagon. His knowing what an octagon is impressed a mom of an almost 3 year old. He enjoys shapes, numbers (he will tell you he’s 26 if you ask his age even though he knows he’s 2), colors, and letters.
2. Our Parents-as-Teachers educator came today. Wes is a pretty normal 2 year old. He is very sensitive and empathetic, so she gave me some ideas on how to roleplay to help him handle his emotions in ‘stressful’ situations better (like there is too much noise or stimulation for him). She said it’s wonderful that he can say ‘I sad/happy/mad/etc.’ at this stage and to just follow his cues. He is also apparently very verbal and articulate for his age. This is pretty shocking because Steve and I aren’t big talkers, guess Wes carries the conversations. 🙂
3. Day 2 of only 1-hour.naps, really hoping for a good nap tomorrow!
These were taken during the ‘free time’ portion at the end of the class. My camera is on its last leg, hence the horrible quality. Really debating if I want a new computer (tablet) for my birthday or a camera- I need both and it is a ‘big’ birthday. 😉
