Happy 10 months to Wes! 🙂 Here’s our big boy this morning getting ready to enjoy his waffle. The stuff on top is a mixture of plain whole milk yogurt, banana, and cinnamon. He ate 2 waffles, minus one strip that Quinn happily finished up for him.
I randomly check Craigslist and found this rocking toy yesterday and we picked it up this morning. New it’s about $30 but we only paid $5! Wes had played on this type of toy at a local play gym and loved it so I was happy to find one for him. ‘Scout’ is riding on it in the picture, Scout is currently Wes’s favorite toy and his car ride companion. We’re thinking of getting a dvd player for the car to keep him entertained since we will be taking longish car trips in the next few years. So if you have one that you’d recommend, let us know!
This post will be updated again after we take pics of the kids in their costumes. Wes is a bit sick (very yucky nose and sneezing) so we may not go to the mall to trick-or-treat.
EDIT: No trick-or-treating for us. Wes has been cranky all day, I think in addition to being sick, he’s getting more teeth (molars). He has been biting me constantly and has bit Steve as well. We dressed up Quinn and Wes and took pictures, put a bowl of candy on the front porch, and are calling it a night.
Cards from the paternal great grandparents:
Have you ever tried to get a ~10mo and a dog to look the same way…yeah, not easy!
Wes with his pumpkin:
Visiting dad’s work for trick-or-treating, there were surprisingly a lot of kids there:
Books in the mail today- 8 Sandra Boynton books (so much fun)! No slip in the box, but we assume they are from Grandma and Grandpa Perry. 🙂
And he found an old binky, he hasn’t used a binky since he was about 2 months…you can see his teeth in the middle of it!
Today is my friend Amy’s son’s 1st birthday. That means it’s exactly 9 weeks until Wes turns 1. We are going to his party Saturday and I’m excited because J and Wes don’t get to see each other much. The stress Amy is under kinda makes me happy we aren’t having a party for Wes. We’re dressing Wes up and taking him out for bbq and coming home for presents and cake on NYE. :-p I found a cute t-shirt I plan on ordering in the next couple weeks:
I think I’m going to try to recreate this design on a black t-shirt for Wes’s 1 year pictures.
Since Wes is going to be a spider, I thought we’d stick with bugs. QP is going to be a bee. 🙂 Wes thought it was HILARIOUS and kept trying to go after her. So, I had to put him in the costume so Quinn could get even.
I find it funny that it fits him, they aren’t lying when they say it fits between 15 and 30lbs.
Tooth #8 is in!!!
Saturday: Lunch at Chick-fil-a, home to relax, Mom went out shopping with a friend for about 3 hours and Wes & Dad went grocery shopping. Wes wasn’t pleased with his dad so they had to get out of the house to distract him from the fact that mom was missing! Had a relaxing night and Wes slept decently.
Sunday: Went to the park where Wes enjoyed the slides and swings. Mom & Dad also went down the slides with him a bit. Came home and he decided to try to pull the laptop off the couch with him and hit his little lip. Lots of blood but very little fuss. He was much more interested in eating the Kleenex than cleaning up the blood. Steve grilled bbq chicken and we had a nice lunch and dinner. Some cleaning was done and right now Steve is getting Wes ready for bed. Soon it will be my turn to nurse and get him to sleep for hopefully many hours!
We went to a local park with about 9 other moms and their kids and had a GREAT time! There were a couple play areas and all the kids ran around and Wes wanted nothing more than to go after them. He held his own pretty well. One boy (~14mo) climbed on Wes’s back while he was crawling around and Wes hit his head and got a scrape, but very few tears were shed by Wes.
It wasn’t a good day for khaki colored pants, hoping some Oxiclean saves them! He had fun so that’s all that mattered. I’ve heard people say that Wes is so clingy because he’s not in daycare and always with me, but when we are out and he warms up to new people, he wants little to do with me unless he’s hungry or tired. It’s not like we sit at home all day, I can’t remember the last time we stayed home all day long. We’re in 3 playgroups and go to a weekly storytime at a library- we stay busy!
edit: A picture of his wounds from hanging with the big kids- little red marks on his forhead, scratch on his cheek, and upper lip.
And bad mommy moment. I learned putting the music keyboard in his crib while I shower is bad. Thankful he didn’t flip forward out of the crib!
New toys, including his 1st truck:
Skull socks ($1 bin at Target)…super chunk legs:
They begged for a piece of Steve’s muffin as he was leaving, now he knows what I experience every time I eat:
He’s been doing lots of ‘da’ ‘duh’ sounds today…oh, that’s a corner guard in his mouth, they never stay on the tables!:
