Seriously, I take pictures of Wes pretty much every day of his life. I just can’t help myself!
In other news, we took his new trike to the park and he did EXCELLENT with sharing! I was so proud! We talked on the way there that we let other kids look at his bike and he just kept repeating ‘Let kids look at my bike.’ over and over again. So he let them use it (most were his age and just sat on it and pushed all the cool buttons). When he wanted it back he said ‘Me have turn.’ or ‘My turn’ and would say please when I corrected him. It was a nice change to not have issues with him sharing!
In not so good news, Wes went ‘off roading’ with his bike and ended up tipping it backwards and hitting his head on concrete (not a first for his noggin). This led to tears, boogers streaming down his face, and rounds of ‘I hurt my head and face!’/’I so very very sad!’. It also led to nasty comments from a lady (she was with her grandkids) to her husband about him falling. I heard them, but was kind enough to not get nasty back at her. I’m not wrapping my kid in bubble wrap, nor will I be one of those hovering parents at the park. If it’s something I know he can’t really do perfectly, I will be a ‘spotter’, but I’m not going to follow him down slides and up ladders all the time. He fell again 5 minutes later just walking on the playground- he’s just pretty clumsy some times!
After ‘Toddle Time’ at a local community center where they have variety of trikes, Wes and I went on the hunt for a tricycle. This one fits him now, but has plenty of room for growth so it should last a couple years. The weather is going to be in the mid- to upper-70s all week so he’ll get lots of riding time!
Dentist visit went well. It was pretty funny when the dental hygienist was trying to tell Wes about the different tools and he just wanted to watch Mickey Mouse on tv (that’s what he’s staring up at in the 1st dental pic). She used a regular toothbrush to clean/polish his teeth because he didn’t like them being ‘tickled’ by the electric brush.
Target trip did too- he found a trike he likes. Lightening McQueen, of course! http://www.target.com/p/Huffy-Disney-Cars-Pixar-Folding-Trike-Red-10/-/A-13564309#?lnk=sc_qi_detaillink
Wes figured out how to ride a tricycle today at ‘Toddle Time’!!! He didn’t go zipping around the gym, but he went about 20 feet. Now we just need to get him his own bike!
I may have gotten a little teary-eyed- haha!
So, we made the decision to send Wes to a 2s preschool class. I realized that if all his little friends were going our number of play dates during the week would decrease. Obviously I would still take him out and we’d do things, but he would have less interaction with familiar faces.
Now to figure out where to send him. I want a 2 day/week, 1/2 day program. A lot of places seems to do 1 or 2 full-days, but I’m not ready for that. 😉
EDIT: I enrolled Wes for preschool starting in August! He’ll be in the ‘Young 3s’ (2.5-3.5) classroom 2 days week for 2.5 hours.
